Frank Leboeuf, a former Chelsea player, claims that bringing forward Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United to manager Graham Potter’s team during the summer transfer window would have been a “wonderful idea.”

During the summer transfer window, Ronaldo was frequently associated with Chelsea.

Todd Boehly, a co-owner of Chelsea, had agreed to sign Ronaldo, but the deal did not fall through due to the opposition of Thomas Tuchel, the team’s then-coach.

“I believe that signing Cristiano Ronaldo for Chelsea in the summer, when Todd Boehly suggested they would be interested, would have been a wise decision. Tuchel, however, would have been opposed to the notion given how dealing with [Kylian] Mbappe and Neymar as megastars at PSG played out, and he would not have wanted to revisit that experience, Leboeuf said to Fair Betting Sites.

“I truly believed Ronaldo may have been a good commercial signing for the club because clearly, Ronaldo is worldwide in terms of his marketability, but I am not so convinced on a football level,” the author said.
